Content is the one most important element of your online presence.
Content is what separates the winners who are raking in all the traffic from online businesses that are barely making it or the ones that are dead on arrival.
Without content that is relevant to your audience and captivating enough for them to keep coming back, you are just going to scrape by till the audience gets tired and moves on.
Every website you visit is filled with something, it is the lifeline of every online gathering, it is more important than the beautiful outline, graphics, and the most sophisticated plugin.
With that said, it isn’t always easy to get the best content up and many times you think and rack your thinking faculty but all you come up with is a big pile of nothing.
The good news is …. there is a way to get through this and there is a science to constantly creating content that is so good that your audience can’t do without them. Yes, there are and I will be giving you twenty of them right now.
1 TRY A NUMBERED LIST OF SOMETHING
This is the fastest and easiest way to brew content when you are feeling mental dryness and you can’t come up with something.
All you need do is create a top ten list around something that is in agreement with your core topic.
For instance if you are in fashion, you could just write something like top ten places to rock the athleisure trend.
What if you write for nursing mothers, it could be ten ways to prevent your child from having learning disabilities.
You do that and your thought process can narrow down on finding just ten points that you can develop.
2 WRITE A HOW TO DO TUTORIAL
We are in the business of solving problems. For your online business to keep blossoming, it is advised that you always show people how to solve a particular problem.
Although this piece isn’t titled how to write great content constantly, it is still what I am doing and it is also another way to keep churning out great content constantly.
3 OFFER A BENEFIT LIST
People are always thinking of this product or that service and a word of approval from their favourite content creator would go a long way.
All you need do is write a post detailing benefits of a product or service in your niche and you would have created not just good content but content that meets a need and it’s such content that go viral.
4 CREATE MUST DO CONTENT
This type of content shows you know your subject and portrays authority which is a strong attraction point for an online business that will thrive.
Here is what you must do to succeed as a banker or here is what you must do to succeed in marriage are both compelling headlines that will attract the eye and will receive a lot of click through.
5 CREATE THINGS TO AVOID CONTENT
This is like a close cousin to the previous point and it still carries the same ease of creation and authority the previous post has.
It is as simple as these headlines, five things to avoid if you want a thriving online business or two things to avoid if you will be profitable in the next ninety days.
6 WRITE ON THE CURRENT TRENDS
As a content creator, it is your job to know what is happening to the minute in your sphere of influence and comment on it.
You shouldn’t just comment, you should seek to explain and show your audience how it affects them and how they can take advantage of the trend.
7 PREDICT FUTURE TRENDS
One of the greatest investors the world has known is Warren Buffet and a lot of insiders call him the oracle of Omaha because of his ability to see far ahead of the competition.
That is one of your jobs as a content creator, you are supposed to see the future for your audience and create contents on that.
8 DOCUMENT YOUR PLANS
Are you creating a product or planning to go listen to a sage in your industry? You can create contents based on that and carry your audience along.
This alone can create a massive buzz for your product and increase sales to levels you never thought possible.
9 CREATE A SURVEY
This is one type of content that isn’t just helpful and engaging but it can also be like a mirror into the thought process of your audience.
You could ask them what they think of that product or this direction you are thinking of moving towards.
It is easy, fun and practical and it will make your job easier by taking away a lot of guess work.
10 CREATE AN INFOGRAPHIC
You might need a designer for this one but it is a lot of fun and it is engaging for the creator and the reader so it is worth it.
The basic rule is whatever format you use make sure it is easily decipherable and has current fact and the effort will be worth it.
11 CONDUCT AN INTERVIEW
This is another one that is really great for your audience especially if you land a big fish, by big fish I mean a huge name in your industry.
This increases your credibility and raises your stock among your audience and that can be so good for your fees.
I should also add that getting a big fish isn’t the hardest thing if you are consistent and have a healthy respect for how limited their time is.
12 START A TIP OF THE DAY
Currently, Nigeria foremost internet marketer Ronald Nzimora is doing this using Facebook and it is working so well for him.
If you do this very well it becomes something they anticipate which is really great for the growth and the strength of your online business.
13 RECORD AN AUDIO TUTORIAL
Most of what I have described involves writing and that can become too monotonous for your audience sometimes.
To make sure you have them engaged and on the edge of their seat, all you need is a quiet room and a good microphone to deliver your content.
This type of content comes with the added advantage of the personal touch the written words will rarely have.
14 SHOW A STEP BY STEP DEMONSTRATION
This is really helpful when you are describing concepts that other media can’t convey perfectly like how to make a dish or how to advertise some products on Facebook using audience insight.
You don’t need more than a good mobile phone to do this. so action!
15 SHOW YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS
You will be surprised at how many people in your audience would love to see how you research and create your ebooks or audio products so give them what they want by chronicling how it is done with a video demonstration.
16-UPGRADE OLD CONTENT
So you have an old post that is still relevant but just needs a little tweaking? Tweak it and add current statistics and trends and it will be as good as new and it will have your audience occupied like it is new.
17 MAKE A PODCAST FROM WRITTEN CONTENT
One piece of writing can be used in another format and big media houses do this a lot so why not you?
If you doubt me, watch CNN and you will notice the same news piece used in lot of programs. So you can do that too and it will still be fresh and insightful
18 COMPARE PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
Some of my favourite content creators do this on a regular basis and I know you have seen them before.
It could be comparing Microsoft and Apple or Get response vs Mail chimp, then you compare and contrast taking time to list pros and cons and in fact telling your audience your preferred choice but still leaving room for them to choose.
19 ANSWER FORUM QUESTIONS
To the untrained eye, forums like Nairaland and Quora are just sites where people converge online but for the good content creator it is a goldmine for content because people ask a lot of questions on loads of topics there.
Visit a forum and check for questions pertaining to your niche and pick some and create content answering the questions because if people on that forum have that question then be rest assured that your audience has it too.
20 RECOMMEND SAGES YOU FOLLOW
Sages are the wise men and women of your niche. The people that have seen it all. So to help your audience learn more, you can create a post that details the people whose advice you have listened to through the years.
This will help your audience get better results and it will rub off well on you because this shows that you are constantly learning.
